Notice of Voluntary Recall

The manufacturer has voluntarily recalled the following Dingo® brand products due to Company concerns about the possibility that the products may be contaminated with Salmonella:

Dingo CHICK’N JERKY 3.5 oz. and 8 oz. for dogs and Dingo Kitty CHICKEN JERKY 1.5 oz. for cats and Dingo Ferret CHICKEN JERKY 1.5 oz for Ferrets.

The company is recalling these products out of an abundance of caution.

Salmonella is a serious infection in dogs and cats, that can potentially be transferred to people handling these pet treats, especially if they have not thoroughly washed their hands after having contact with the products or any surfaces exposed to these products. Healthy people infected with Salmonella can have some or all of the following symptoms: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, abdominal cramping and fever. Rarely, Salmonella can result in more serious ailments, including in the microorganism getting into the bloodstream and causing more severe illnesses in which aneurysms, endocarditis, arthritis, and other symptoms of systemic infection are present, as well as muscle pain, eye irritation, and urinary tract symptoms. Consumers exhibiting these signs after having contact with this product should contact their healthcare providers.

Pets with Salmonella infections may be lethargic and have diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, fever, and vomiting. Some pets may have only decreased appetite, fever and abdominal pain. Some Salmonella-infected animals may appear well and not show any signs of illness but become carriers, and serve as sources of Salmonella infection for other animals and humans. If your pet has consumed the recalled product and has these symptoms, please contact your veterinarian.

The company has received one report of Salmonellosis in a dog. There are no reports of human illness.
