Margie Clutter & Honor

Dog Trainer & Handler // Competition Dog

"Honor is from the 5th generation of my Border Collies. We all compete in herding, agilityobedience and rally, but with Honor I decided to try a new skill in dog sports! Nosework!

He loves using his nose, his quick thinking and his Border Collie perseverance to hone in on a particular scent. First we trained in AKC Scentwork. At his first trial weekend at the Agility Club of Evansville’s Scentwork trials, he earned 4 Novice titles with many placements and was High Combined Novice Dog in one trial! We continue to train and show in Scentwork, but we are also branching out into Tracking! Since Honor shows such promise with his nose, I wanted to go top-of-the-line for a tracking harness.

I researched online extensively, and ended up choosing the Ray Allen Leather Non-Padded Tracking Harness from J&J! I chose the non-padded variety because here in the Midwest when doing tracking in the fields, we encounter a variety of burrs and other materials that “hitch a ride” on fur to widen their world. Honor is a smooth-coat Border Collie so both his fur and his tracking harness shed off the offending hitch hikers!"

Their Gear: Ray Allen Leather Non-Padded Tracking Harness. This harness is so well made and sturdy I expect it to last for Honor’s life and mine, too! We also use the bright orange no handled Biothane Long Line for our tracking work. As he heads out on a track, it's easy to spot. I also love that the biothane is durable, yet soft on the hand, and easy to clean.
